Religion is like a Disease
Once it (a God virus) gets in somebody’s head it doesn’t give a damn about you. All it wants to do is get to another person. That other person can be your children, grandchildren or your next door neighbour. It wants to go from your brain to somebody else’s brain just like Toxoplasma gondii wants to get from one rat’s brain to a cat’s gut and then into another rat’s brain. The organism is only using you as what we call a vector and a mosquito passes on malaria. It is just the vector for the malaria plasmodium. So we see this. Religions are just parasites. And they act like parasites. Once you realise that metaphor it just makes so much sense.~ Darrel Ray in The God Virus: How religion infects our lives and culture.
