HIV (Human Immuno-deficiency Virus) Cure

HIV works by inserting its RNA (Ribonucleic acid) into the DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) of your T-cells. When your T-cells reproduce, they inadvertently reproduce the HIV. This suggests some sort of CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats) approach might eventually provide a cure. CRISPR scissors would go inside the cells and snip out the HIV.

HIV only infects humans. Related SIV (Simian Immunodeficiency Virus) diseases infect primates, but do not do any harm. I think we need to study other species to find out what they are doing to combat HIV. Perhaps we can artificially borrow their tricks.
