Introduction

I thought I would start collecting colour schemes for the web authoring community. If you have some colour schemes that you are willing to share, please email them to me. All you need do is list the hex colour numbers you think go well together, ordering dark to light. Give your colour scheme a name. If you want to save me some work, put them in the same HTML table form as those below.

How To Collect Colour Schemes

You can sample photos of fabrics, house interiors, nature, etc. to collect a pleasing scheme. You can capture images with a digital camera or with a scanner. As far as I know, doing this does not violate any copyrights. Using other people’s names for your colour schemes might get you in trouble though.

One trick I use on my home page is to use an image from nature. I select a typical foreground and background colour from the image to use on the rest of the page. You tend to get more muted conservative colour schemes this way.
