Here is an email I received in response to one of my essays.
As I was reading your comments and viewing the photos, I could not help but think of all the American service men and women that have died so that you may be allowed to say what you say and have the freedoms to do so.
What blithering nonsense! You Americans attacked Afghanistan unprovoked because the Taliban refused to give Unocal a free right of way for their pipeline. You attacked Iraq because you thought you could not live without their reserves of oil second only to Saudi Arabia. Neither country attacked the USA or threatened its security in the slightest. You seem to have forgotten the imminent nuclear attack was Cheney’s big lie backed with counterfeit evidence. There were no WMDs (Weapon of Mass Destructions) of any kind, remember! Perhaps you are one of those who think Iraq perpetrated 2001-09-11. Even Bush says it was Saudis who did it, not Iraqis or Afghans. You came to your erroneous conclusion by backwards reasoning. You started by presuming that Americans are always the good guys. They would never have attacked other countries illegally, or unprovoked or to steal their resources. Therefore if Americans attacked, the other side must have attacked first, or at least had an imminent attack planned. Go look. There is no evidence of any kind of such an attack or planned attack on the USA. The thought of it is too ridiculous for words. How could a tiny country like Iraq with an average income of $5 a month, with no tanks, no ships, no planes, who fights by planting home made bombs at the roadside even dream of invading the USA. The USA has a military bigger than all other countries combined. If you are afraid of Iraq or the even smaller, poorer Afghanistan you are certifiably paranoid. This is the same silly crap your father spouted about the danger of Viet Nam overrunning the USA. Don’t believe me, get it straight from Bush’s mouth.
We have no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with the September 11th attacks.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), 2003-09-17, audio.
the enemy attacked us, Jim. [explaining why he invaded Iraq.]
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71)
Jim, the president just said something extraordinarily revealing and, frankly, very important in this debate. In answer to your question about Iraq and sending people into Iraq, he just said the enemy attacked us. Saddam Hussein didn’t attack us; Osama bin Laden attacked us. Al Qaeda attacked us.
~ John Kerry (1943-12-11 age:74) Senator, in rebuttal
of course I know Osama bin Laden attacked us. I know that. I know that. [That the USA attacked Iraq first]
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), 2004-09-30, admitting his dissembling that Iraq attacked the USA when Kerry challenged him in the first presidential debate.
The United States has no credible evidence that Iraq moved weapons of mass destruction into Syria early last year before the U.S.-led war that drove Saddam Hussein from power.
~ Condoleezza Rice (1954-11-14 age:63) National Security Adviser 2004-09-04.
War is not a pretty sight and never will be but if you have a better way to solve some of the Earth’s solutions then please promote those ideas and not just criticize those that are protection you.
That justification for murder, rape and torture (aka war) might have some merit if you were defending your country with these wars, but you are not. You are fighting for oil, a fuel you won’t even be able to burn anyway because of global warming.
I find it ironic that this topic of torture has come full circle and the more I hear the facts about what happened the more I say you have got to be kidding me, that’s all we did?
Were you aware that more US serviceman have been water boarded then all of the terrorists combined?
The Nazis did not admit to much wronging doing either. War criminals rarely do, especially when they can see prosecutors readying the noose. The torture that concerns me is called thirsting I was tortured this way personally. I would sooner be eaten alive by tigers than relive it. This is the form of torture imposed on every Iraqi detainee according to Frontline. In that stifling climate, where you can easily drink 15 liters of water a day, it would have been even worse than what I endured. You Americans have utterly no idea what a cruelty you have mindlessly perpetuated — a veritable McDonalds of torture.
Please write you articles as to why Obama will not release the results of the EIT’s will bet you a coke that he is afraid to acknowledge that they actually did work in obtaining information.
Obama sides with the torturers, presumably because he knows his friends were implicated too. He is the American equivalent of a German holocaust denier. Torture will make people say whatever they think the torturers wants to hear. Professional interrogators have testified it does not work for getting information. In any case, since you Americans are waging aggressive wars, you have not more right that Nazis to obtain information. Recall the story of how a diabetic detainee spilled the beans after interrogators gave him some sugar-free cookies. They also testified other detainees were already talking until they were tortured by Bush’s clumsy goons. You Americans are not defending yourselves. You can’t use a self-defence excuse for torture. In any case, torture is illegal in American law. If you don’t like the law, change it. But that was the law in effect during the Iraq war. You can’t make the law retro-active.
One of your photos shows the American hanging from the bridge after being burned. Do you think he would like to have been water boarded and then sent to a location to receive 3 square meals a day, clean bathroom, great view of the Ocean?
If you invade somebody’s country ilegally and unprovoked, you deserve whatever you get. By your own logic, self-defence excuses anything — even torture, mutilation, death and corpse mulitation. Therefore the Iraqis are entitled to use these measure against you American invaders and occupiers. You are Americans are the invaders, not the Iraqis. As invaders, you have no right to harm anyone. Everyone who participates in such an aggressive war is a war criminal. That the law. I did not make it up. I am just reporting it.
Bottom line: I find your web site irresponsible.
That is because you are under the delusion American is defending itself. It is fighting two illegal aggressive wars.
Bottom line: Your premise that the USA is fighting a defensive war is wrong, so it follows your conclusions are wrong too. On the other paw, what I have said is so obvious you had to be aware of it too. Yet you persisted in promoting war and torture through lies and deception. Your motives then would be quite dark.
I did no such thing. I posted every last word of your email. I also echoed it back to you exactly as I received it. What most likely happened is you saw my words posted in response and stopped reading, not realising that more of your words followed. Possibly you sent me an earlier version of your email. Perhaps you accidentally deleted some words from you post before sending. Perhaps you has some thoughts you never actual got around to articulating. Possibly you used some ancient browser than does not understand HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) 4.0. In any case, even if I did not post your entire email, I did not censor you. I did not interfere with your freedom of speech. Just as when you send a letter to the editor, the editor is not obligated to publish your letter, much less in its entirely. mindprod.com is a private website. You have no rights whatsoever to be published here. One way of stating the principle, is that freedom of the press applies only to those who own a printing press.
Lets cut to the chase. Every war ever fought (and you can go back to biblical days) was about religious beliefs and control of land/resources. I do not know your religious background but my beliefs are there is good and evil in our culture (I define culture as anything that lives and breaths on this planet… you, me, dogs, cats, fish, etc.etc.). We fight for what we believe in and we are territorial.
With that foundation of who we are and how we act lets look at your comment about the USA. Please ask any individual older then 70 in these countries what their view is of the USA… (China, South Korea, Philippines, England, France, Viet Nam) their view of the USA? They most likely would not be alive if the USA did not intervene when Japan and Germany wanted geographical dominance in their global region. If you have not, then I have. I have travelled to these countries and had the chance to converse with the age group that was under the threat of the above mentioned. They are very grateful that the USA stepped in and stopped the aggression. Regarding Viet Nam… this is a good example of what happens when the Govt. gets involved and does a job half ass. Just like Iraq, let the Govt. get in the way of what needs to be done and it becomes a quagmire.
In other words you admit you are criminally insane. You don’t know the difference between legal and illegal, right and wrong. You still imagine we live in the age of dinosaurs where might makes right. What makes you even more disgusting is you don’t even have any curiousity about what is legal and illegal. You have no curiosity about history or current events. You are aggressively stupid and ignorant. You work very hard to protect your delusions. You do this so you can hold on to your primitive, racist and paranoid world view. Your are sub human.
Concerning Iraq… pleaase post the photos showing how Saddam H. gassed hundreds of thousands of Kurds…, of course, you probably believe this was made up just like the Iran President calls the Holocaust a man made joke on the world.
Do you know where Saddam got that poison gas he used to gas the Iranians and the Kurds? Do you know where he got the helicopters to disperse it? He got from President H. W. Bush on credit. Saddam used to be America’s pit bull, a puppet dictator. The CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) trained the bastard and helped him to power. His misdeeds had nothing whatsoever why the USA decided to invade Iraq. The USA had been turning a blind eye for decades.
Mr. Obama can make excuses for the USA’s behavior but I will not. If you were to take a scale and place all the good the USA has done on one side and all the bad on the other side I can assure you that it would be out of balance on the good side. And you are most likely a benefactor of one of the good side topics.
Your country has behaved much like Nazi Germany invading other countries unprovoked and you want to excuse them because they gave some miserly foreign aid, the lowest of any developed country. What a joke!
What is your view on the current Pakistan situation. Are you concerned that the Taliban may gain control of some nuclear weapons? Or don’t you believe that they have WMD (Weapon of Mass Destruction) ’s? You get one chance to be wrong, are you willing for this time to be that chance?
You are just changing the subject to avoid confronting your own country’s outrageously bad behaviour. You are maddeningly evasive. You did not respond to even a single word I wrote. Your brain is encased in rhino hide. You false assertion that I censored you suggest you adamantly refuse to let any new idea into your dinosaur pea brain. You refuse to even read other people’s words, much less absorb them.
Enjoy your freedoms by posting a slanted side of the same side that allows you to do what you do. Please take your business of web writing to North Korea, China, Iran, etc.etc.etc.. and see how much you will appreciate the USA and what it stands for.
Even interacting with you to this minor degree of responding to a couple of emails brings on waves of nausea. I feel ill that humanity could spawn such a trogloydyte as you
