Trump and the Paris Climate Accord

In earlier years, Trump called for urgent action on climate change. Then on 2017-06-01 he withdrew the USA from the Paris Climate Change Accord. Why?

• Trump owes Russia a big favour for hacking the election for him. Russia also has all manner of ways of blackmailing Trump. They have his balls in a wringer. Russia’s economy is based on oil. Russia is such a cold country, it might welcome climate change. Oil sales have been tanking as the demand for oil has been dropping. Trump and Russia hope to totally derail the Paris Accord. This would extend the life of oil.
• Trump has a cosy relationship with Saudi Arabia even though Saudis executed 9-11. He gave them $160 million in arms. Presumably the Saudis have bribed Trump. Like Russia, Saudi Arabia has an oil-based economy, and desperately needs global oil demand to rise.
• Trump appointed Rex Tillerson (the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Exxon-Mobil) to be the Secretary of State. Exxon have nearly all their money invested in drilling licences in Russia. They too want global demand for oil to rise.

So surprisingly, Trump is fully aware of the consequences of climate change. It is just that making money for himself for the short term trumps everything.
