The B&B 1971-03 1369 Richards Street is by far the best club in Vancouver for singles. See the other part of the blurb for a very detailed description of it. The best night is Saturday when all the singles show up. The next best is Friday. During the week mainly couples come. It is a lot of fun then (you have some room to dance) but it is not too good for pick-ups.
B.J.’s 1971-03 339 West Pender has a thoroughly mixed crowd — straight-gay, male-female. Go on a Friday to avoid the large crowds, but go on a Saturday if you are a sardine. Open only on the weekend. Doors open at 9:30 P.M. There is an excellent drag show — humourous sketches, male and female dancers, a proper stage, a truly good comedienne and the standard miming to records starting at 12:30 A.M. Admission is $2.00. BYOB.
The Bull Ring 1971-03 887 Seymour has a mixed male-female clientele with a butch decor of red light, rough hewn beams and chains. It opens at 10:00 P.M. Champagne Charlie’s 1971-03 612 Davie. has a mixed crowd opening at 10:00 P.M. There is a very good drag show at 1:00 A.M.. Sometimes they have erotic dancers. Faces 1971-03 alias 795 club, alias Twiggy’s, at 795 Seymour street has recently been remodeled. It is quite nicely furnished inside with carpets, fluorescent murals, a stage (and sometimes go-go boy for laughs), tables and a dance floor. The under 21 group come here Friday night. The beautiful young hustlers make Faces their home as do the pot and acid heads and the characters. The atmosphere is not nearly as friendly as at the B&B, but it is more relaxed. As one person put it Faces is a straight club for gay people. Opens 9:30 P.M. 75¢ week days and Sundays, $1.00 before 11:00 PM and $2.00 after 11:00 PM Friday and Saturday. BYOB.

Casa Felicia 1971-03 819 Pacific Street is open daily from 5:00 P.M. to 1:00 A.M... Friday and Saturday from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M.. and Sunday from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Phone 683-0111 for reservations. The food is net all that great, but the surroundings are elegantly done in red white and black with handsome uniformed waiters. They allow gays, lesbians, transvestites, but will not allow straights unless accompanied by a gay.
The Circle 1971-03 is an alternative to the clubs for the older gay. You can phone them up to cry on a shoulder or to talk over your gay problems. They organize dances and other non-club social events. Phone 985-0713 to find out about joining. If a lady answers do not let it throw you as gay girls are active in this group as well. The dues are $10.00 per year. The club goes inactive during the summer months. They are a very conservative group of people who believe that homosexuality is a disease and thus will do their best to get you to a psychiatrist to be cured. The membership is restricted to over 21’s and I would guess the average age is about 21.
