Biblical Morality

Christians love to thump their bibles and call for a return to pure biblical morality. Instead of thumping I wish these people would read their bibles. Then perhaps they would see what a strange morality it professes:

• commands genocide
• commands human and animal sacrifice
• commands killing and raping children
• commands killing for eating shellfish and lobsters
• commands killing for wearing garments of more than one type of fibre
• commands killing for working in the garden on Sunday
• commands killing gays
• commands killing non-virgin brides
• commands killing whole villages if even one non-believer or believer in a different religion lives there.
• commands women to be silent
• condemns owl-eating, and about 100 other species.
• condones animal cruelty
• condones child beating
• condones incest
• condones polygamy
• condones rape
• condones slavery
• condones wife beating
• insists wives blindly obey their husbands and submit to his every whim
• nothing to say about business
• nothing to say about pollution
• nothing to say about sanitation
• nothing to say about traffic
