Some names are perceived as gay, usually just because some famous gay person or movie character had that name e.g. Adam, Alexander, Alan, Brian, Bruce, Caleb, Chad, Chip, Christopher, Dexter, Elliot, Fabrizio, Jesse, Jonathan, Julian, Kip, Kyle, Lance, Michael, Munro, Nicholas, Nigel, Noel, Oscar, Quentin, Querelle, Salvadore, Seigfried.

My mother had a hypothesis that some mothers want one of her children not to marry so he would be free to look after her in her old age. She subtly encourages him to be gay, including saddling him with a gay name.
