What Females Look For

In a straight relationship, at least on an unconscious level, a female is sizing up potential mates to see which ones would help raise the most children to maturity. She is interested in his ability to provide, how likely he is to stick around until the children are raised and his physical strength to fight off predators (not a big problem today, but still a potent attractant). This must be distressing to the male, knowing the female has almost no interest in him, just in what he can provide. She will quickly lose interest in him if he ever fails to continue to provide. Darwinian selection demands the male is used and exploited in this way. A gay male on the other hand needs nothing from his partner but companionship and sex.
