A standard for displaying dates. ISO (International Standards Organisation) standard for dates yyyy-mm-dd, e.g. 1998-12-31, this website uses ISO format dates throughout, as does the BigDate class. This standard avoids ambiguity and works for all locales without translation. e.g. 2016-07-11 YYYY-MM-DD.
If you need both date and time, specify 2016-07-11T00:01:56+00:00 YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM+SS.SS.
