Here is an email I received in response to one of my essays on religion.

Pick on the Muslims

If you get tired of picking on Christians you might try picking on Muslims. They believe in one God. They believe in Jesus Christ, but only as a prophet, not the Son of God. And the real true Muslims take the Qur’an seriously. If the infidel won’t convert to Islam, or pay taxes to Islam, then "kill the Infidel." That’s what their book says, and some of them try to follow the whole book.

Muslims have done nothing to me. Christians daily try to take away my civil rights and threaten to kill me. Seems to me I should concentrate on dealing with those who want me dead first. I have read the Qur’an cover to cover. The book continually calls for tolerance of diversity. Muslims tell me that if someone explains Islam to you, and you reject it, you go to a particularly horrible hell, but that is still no excuse to kill the person. The only killing the Qur’an condones is self defence. Much of today’s intolerance in Muslim nations is actually condemned in the Qur’an. Contrary to popular belief, there is nothing in the Qur’an about women wearing veils. The Bible suffers similarly.

Good luck. Better stick to picking on Christians. Eventually you will read the Bible enough to begin believing it. God Bless.
