Oracle has been gradually tightening security restrictions on Java Applets and Java Web Start collectively called RIA (Rich Internet Application). It is a bit thick to expect every legacy app to be rewritten to comply. So what you can do is provide a white list of sites that can be trusted. You can view or edit the list in the security tab of the Java Control Panel.
The location of the exception site list is set in the deployment.user.security.exception.sites property. The default location is C:\Users\user\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\security\exception.sites
To permit self-signed or unsigned Applets to run from your local hard disk, you need to put the following entries in your exception site list:
