BIOS: Basic Iput Output System. Your computer contains a permanent small uneraseable program burned into it stored in ROM chips. This program handles the very basic functions needed to get Windows-95 started. The BIOS can accept a keystroke, put a character on the screen, read the floppy, read the hard disk or tell the time of day.
