Btrieve
An B-tree indexed file access API that dates back to the DOS days. It was originally created by the Btrieve corporation, then taken over by Novell, then taken back by Btrieve and now is handled by Pervasive. It lives on as an API to their SQL database which still uses the same basic indexing engine. I use it in Abundance to this day.
