FAX: FAX is an ancient technique for exchanging black and white bit images between computers. It has poor resolution and no error correction. However, it is compatible with thousands of FAX machines over the planet. FAXSAV is a way of using the Internet, rather than long distance phone lines, to do the bulk of the delivery, expecially for broadcasting. FAX is an ugly technology that refuses to die. Unfortunately, the competition, EMAIL enclosure, which allows arbitrary resolution, compression, colour, sending of very compact, editable word processing documents etc. is stuck in the stone age and refuses to evolve either.
