GSL
GSL (Gnu Scientic Library) is an open source library written in C that will handle all manner of mathematical calculations. e.g. Basis splines, Chebyshev Approximation, Complex Numbers, Differential Equations, Discrete Wavelet, Eigensystems, Fast Fourier Transforms, Histograms, Interpolation, Least-Squares Fitting, Linear Algebra, Minimization, Monte Carlo Integration, N-Tuples, Numerical Differentiation, Permutations, Quadrature, Quasi-Random Sequences, Random Distributions, Random Numbers, Roots of Polynomials, Sorting, Statistics, Transforms, Vectors and Matrices… You have to write a C program and call library functions. You could use the library in Java by writing JNI (Java Native Interface) C glue.
