localhost
"localhost" and "127.0.0.1" are the DNS (Domain Name Service and corresponding IP (Internet Protocol) names for the local machine. For Win2K you need an entry in your C:\Windows\hosts. file of the form 127.0.0.1 localhost to let you access the local machine’s server applications. For NT the file is stored in C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. For Vista, look in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts.
