red pill: Red pill is a reference to the movie, The Matrix, where Morpheus offers Neo a choice of two pills. The red pill will awaken him to the true nature of his phony reality — the matrix, or the blue pill that will offer forgetfulness and allow him to return to his humdrum life. So a red pill is anything that awakens you to a part of reality not normally explored by ordinary citizens. It could be things like American imperialism, psychedelics, high government corruption, the activities of the CIA, quantum physics, corporate wrongdoing or spiritual reality.
