3G
3G is the fastest way for cellphones to transmit to cellphone towers. It is 14.4 Mbit/s on the downlink and 5.8 Mbit/s on the uplink. This is not as fast as WiFi (Wireless Fidelity), but WiFi works only within a building. To put his in perspective, 3G is faster than the orginial 10Mbit Ethernet. It is used in R.I.M. Blackberries and Apple iPhones and other advanced cellphones. It allows fast digital data exchange, web surfing, audio and video. It is not needed for pure voice.
