3G
3G is the fastest way for cell-phones to transmit to cell-phone towers. It is 14.4 Mbit/s on the downlink and 5.8 Mbit/s on the uplink. This is not as as fast as WiFi, but WiFi works only within a building. To put his in perspective, 3G is faster than the orginial 10Mbit Ethernet. It is used in R.I.M. Blackberries and Apple iPhones and other advanced cell-phones. It allows fast digital data exchange, web surfing, audio and video. It is not needed for pure voice.
