Macromedia: A company now owned by Adobe. It makes a product that competes with Java Applets called Flash which is lighter weight and particularly well suited for cartoon-like animations delivered inside browsers. They use a lightweight version of JavaScript call ActionScript. Shockwave is Flash’s bigger brother.
