Mobipocket or mobi for short is an eBook format. It uses XHTML (extensible Hypertext Markup Language), JavaScript and GIF (Graphic Interchange Format) (max 64Kb). It also supports native SQL (Standard Query Language) queries to be used with embedded databases. Readers can add blank pages in any part of a book and add free-hand drawings, highlights, bookmarks, corrections, notes … The Mobipocket reader software has a full screen mode for reading and support for many PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants), Communicators and Smartphones. Mobipocket products support most Windows, Symbian, BlackBerry and Palm operating systems, but not the Android platform. The Amazon Kindle’s AZW (Amazon Word) format is a stripped down Mobipocket format.
