Scooter is a loyal American who worked for Vice President Cheney who got caught up in this Valerie Plame case and was indicted and convicted. And I chose to commute his sentence. I felt he had paid enough of a penalty… I let the verdict stand. After some serious deliberation I commuted his sentence. He has suffered enough.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), 2009-11-08 in an TV interviewThis is one of Bush’s classic self-contradictory statements. Bush pardoned Scooter Libby overriding his conviction for outing Valery Plame, a CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) agent. Libby spent no time in jail.
Victory means exit strategy and it’s important for the president to explain to us what the exit strategy is.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), 1999-04-09, on Kosovo.
We’ve never been stay the course, George!
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), During an interview 2006-10-22 on ABC’s This Week, President Bush tried to distance himself from what has been his core strategy in Iraq for the last three years. George Stephanopoulos asked about James Baker’s plan to develop a strategy for Iraq that is between ‘stay the course’ and ‘cut and run’.
We will stay the course.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), 2006-08-30
We will stay the course, we will complete the job in Iraq.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), 2005-05-04
And that’s why we’re going to stay the course in Iraq. And that’s why when we say something in Iraq, we’re going to do it.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), 2004-04-16
We will stay the course until the job is done, Steve. And the temptation is to try to get the President or somebody to put a timetable on the definition of getting the job done. We’re just going to stay the course.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), 2004-04-13
And so we’ve got tough action in Iraq. But we will stay the course.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), 2004-04-05
The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), 2001-09-13
I don’t know where he is. I have no idea and I really don’t care. It’s not that important. It’s not our priority.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71)
2002-03-13Why did Bush lose interest in catching bin Laden, even though it would give him a massive popularity surge? If he caught bin Laden, the public would lose interest in continuing the two wars that shovel money to Cheney, Bush and friends in the arms and mercenary industry.
Gosh, I just don’t think I ever said I’m not worried about Osama bin Laden. It’s kind of one of those exaggerations.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), 2004-10-13
The president has never supported making English the national language.
~ Alberto Gonzales (1955-08-04 age:62) Attorney General 2006-05-19
Certainly we support the fact that English is the national language of the United States of America.
~ Alberto Gonzales (1955-08-04 age:62) Attorney General, 2006-05-22, in one of the faster flip flops of political history.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with singing [the national anthem] in Spanish.… We are an nation of immigrants. We are a nation of many languages.
~ Laura Bush (1946-11-04 age:71) 2006-05-04 CNN (Cable News Network) host John King reminded her that her husband disagreed. She responded.
I think it should be sung in English, of course.
~ Laura Bush (1946-11-04 age:71) in a 25 second flip flop, 2006-05-04
A lame duck session, for people who don’t know what that means, it means the Senate is coming and the House is coming back between now and Christmas and they’ve got a few days to get some big things done.

Those of us who spent time in the agricultural sector and in the heartland, we understand how unfair the death penalty is.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), Omaha, Neb., 2001-02-28
[Note: Bush supports the death penalty.]
States should have the right to enact reasonable laws and restrictions particularly to end the inhuman practice of ending a life that otherwise could live.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), Cleveland, 2000-06-29
I want justice. And there’s an old poster out West, I recall, that says, Wanted: Dead or Alive
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71)
Bush is confused about the difference between revenge and justice.
Let me tell you what else I’m worried about: I’m worried about an opponent who uses nation building and the military in the same sentence. See, our view of the military is for our military to be properly prepared to fight and win war and, therefore, prevent war from happening in the first place.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), 2000-11-06
Chastising Gore, then spending a trillion dollars, he claims not to kill Iraqis, but to rebuild Iraq after demolishing it bloodlessly.
