Damn Lies

Bush told so many lies about WMDs (Weapon of Mass Destructions) in Iraq, I had to write separate essay about them.

erring on the side of life

Facing clear evidence of peril, we cannot wait for the final proof — the smoking gun — that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), Cincinnati, Ohio, 2002-10-07, on evidence for Iraq’s non-existent nukes.
Satellite photographs reveal that Iraq is rebuilding facilities at sites that have been part of its nuclear program in the past. Iraq has attempted to purchase high-strength aluminum tubes and other equipment needed for gas centrifuges, which are used to enrich uranium for nuclear weapons.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), Cincinnati, Ohio, 2002-10-07. These tubes turned out to be nothing more threatening than the tubing used to construct playground equipment.
We’ve also discovered through intelligence that Iraq has a growing fleet of manned and unmanned aerial vehicles that could be used to disperse chemical or biological weapons across broad areas. We’re concerned that Iraq is exploring ways of using these UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) for missions targeting the United States.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), Cincinnati, Ohio, 2002-10-07, on Iraq’s non-existent drones capable of launching an attack on the USA.
Many Iraqis can hear me tonight in a translated radio broadcast and I have a message for them. If we must begin a military campaign, it will be directed against the lawless men who rule your country and not against you. As our coalition takes away their power, we will deliver the food and medicine you need. We will tear down the apparatus of terror and we will help you to build a new Iraq that is prosperous and free. In a free Iraq, there will be no more wars of aggression against your neighbors, no more poison factories, no more executions of dissidents, no more torture chambers and rape rooms. The tyrant will soon be gone. The day of your liberation is near.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), 2003-03-17, Bush’s betrayal of the Iraqi people. 3 days later Bush attacked the residential parts of Baghdad with his terrorist Shock & Awe attack that was broadcast live on American TV.
We will have struck a major blow right at the heart of the base, if you will, the geographic base of the terrorists who’ve had us under assault now for many years, but most especially on 2001-09-11.
~ Dick Cheney (1941-01-30 age:77), 2003-09 in TV interview, dissembling to suggest that Iraq was responsible for 2001-09-11.
We found the weapons of mass destruction. We found biological laboratories. You remember when Colin Powell stood up in front of the world and he said, Iraq has got laboratories, mobile labs to build biological weapons. They’re illegal. They’re against the United Nations resolutions and we’ve so far discovered two. And we’ll find more weapons as time goes on. But for those who say we haven’t found the banned manufacturing devices or banned weapons, they’re wrong, we found them.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), 2005-05-23, Interview of the President by TVP (Television Poland), Poland. If he found them, what happened to them?
I guess the assumption was that if I were straying off course they would… kind of like a hunting dog, they would punch a buzzer and I would jerk back into place. That’s just absurd.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), dismissing his earpiece and battery pack he used in the debates, 2004-10-26
Now, by the way, any time you hear the United States government talking about wiretap, it requires — a wiretap requires a court order. Nothing has changed, by the way. When we’re talking about chasing down terrorists, we’re talking about getting a court order before we do so. It’s important for our fellow citizens to understand, when you think Patriot Act, constitutional guarantees are in place when it comes to doing what is necessary to protect our homeland because we value the Constitution.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), 2004-04-20
The privacy of ordinary Americans is fiercely protected in all our activities. We’re not mining or trolling through the personal lives of millions of innocent Americans. Our efforts are focused on links to al-Qaeda and their known affiliates.
~ George W. Bush (1946-07-06 age:71), 2006-05-11
