Windows CE : Java Glossary

logo Windows CE
aka Pocket PC (Personal Computer) or Windows Mobile. A stripped down version of the Windows operating system that can fit in ROM (Read Only Memory) in pocket-organiser-sized computers. It is not a Java-based system. It is not portable; it is based around the Intel chip with typically 4 MB ROM and 4 MB RAM (Random Access Memory). There may be some JVMs (Java Virtual Machines) that still run under it. Microsoft generally does all it can to squash Java because it breaks their vendor lock-in.
