language : Java Glossary

language
a way of describing what you want the computer to do and hints how it can do it. Usually it is even more important that fellow humans understand your intent than the computer. The concept of language is being stretched in various new directions. A language is not necessarily a stream of words like English. It could be a flowchart, checkboxes, or some graphical representation that looks like plumbing. Java is just one of many computer languages. Java is being enriched by ideas from people whose background includes many different languges:
